![]() ![]() I was able to find a cheap license for Windows 8.1 Pro on CL. WMC seems to be the only easy to use program that allows you to record encrypted channels. What you actually need to do is purchase a TV Tuner with CableCard support such as the Ceton InfiniTV 4, Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650, or a networked solution like the HDHomerun Prime. ![]() WMC does everything, from giving you the TV guide listings, to scheduling recordings. Since I'm not very technical, I had issues getting MythTV to run (in particular, scheduling shows) so I gave up and I installed Windoze so I can use Windows Media Center. The great thing about the Prime model is you can watch & record up to 3 channels at a time. But there's a lot of behind the scenes coding & use of MySQL server (such as getting the channel lineup to match Verizon). This add-on can be installed from the official Kodi add-on repo. I couldn’t rely on it to record TV anymore. I used MediaPortal for a while, but I kept having issues with the TVServer portion of it crashing constantly. I setup Kodi with it a few days ago and the process has been very smooth. There are options to use MythTV (open source program). Silicon Dust has released an official HDHomeRun add-on for their later models (Prime, Connect, Extend) that automatically handles setting up and viewing the HDHomeRun directly in Kodi, complete with an EPG (electronic programming guide). I put the cable card from Verizon into it and set it up on my home network. But I struggled getting HDHomeRun to work with a Mac + NAS. When I try to setup the TVServer, the program only finds the QAM tuners, but lists the three cable tuners as. to network-attached TV-Tuners such as HDHomeRun, PCTV Systems Broadway.
